Fantastic swim by Libby Trickett in the 100m Freestyle. I didn't actually catch it on account of being rostered on this month to do car checks. But she just goes to prove that you should never give up even when all seems lost. She only managed to qualify for the race because a Chinese swimmer was disqualified for breaking at the start (in fact the only swimmer in the whole meet so far to be disqualified, I think there was a Brazilian relay team that were also DQ'ed, as they say). So she went in with the ninth faster time. And she got Lane 8. And then she led for the whole race, never gave up, and the German swimmer swam her down and swam over the top of her.
And she was just lovely on the dais, crying like she was just so grateful and amazed and elated to be there. That's what happens when you never say die.
