life stuff

So I've been immersed in updating my CV - a task that I try to avoid in 5 year stints and then convulse in horror when I need my current CV and cobble together some hideous thing that I can only bring myself to squint at before tentatively pushing it in front of someone and hoping that they will give me a job.

This time round, I kinda want a shiny and awesome CV that I can more flamboyantly present to potential employers of desire and sashay into the next block of my career.

To assist me in this task, neleh13 and RW have been really really kind, eviserating my old CV, running fine-toothed combs over it to nitpick all sorts of things and then offering me tea and biscuits to soothe on the other side. I don't mind the critique, in fact I am most grateful for it and they are both AWESOME! with their, say it like this, move this here and that there and call this X and then ... OMG I look like I have done some really cool things. I must admit, that as I finished off the new version and emailed it back to them for the next round, I took a minute to step back and think, "Wow did I really do all those things? Huh"

It's looking pretty swish now. They both sent back new edited versions last night, with lots more comments and pointers and I have to start over again, though of course from further along the journey. And it's all the agonising over one word or phrasing that really is the pain in this exercise. But thanks to both of their enthusiasm and rigour, I feel like this is really my CV and that I can be proud of it (despite the fact that I didn't finish my Masters).

And my goal of getting this out first thing tomorrow morning looks to be on schedule.

(And I might not suck afterall :) )
