Jerusalem shooting

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A Palestinian gunman opened fire in a Jewish religious school in Jerusalem on Thursday, killing at least eight people and wounding about 10 in the most lethal attack in Israel in two years, emergency services said.

"It was a slaughterhouse," said Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, head of the Zaka emergency service after surveying the scene at the Merkaz Harav seminary, one of the most prominent Jewish educational centers in the holy city.

So ... the religious school or yeshiva was the target in this shooting. All three of my first cousins on my mother's side have gone to Jerusalem Yeshivot (plural of Yeshiva) to study after finishing highschool. So this cuts a little close to home. Also, I have booked and paid for my ticket to be in Jerusalem at the end of June.

I guess I'm hoping that this is not the start of an upscale in terrorism. But I think I'll go and take out my travel insurance now.

Just watched an interview with Danielle Steele who is about to have her 105th book get published. She apparently works on up to 5 books at a time and writes them on a 1946 typewriter.

That all seems rather sobering.
