A joke to start the day

Little Tony was 9 years old and was staying with his grandmother for a few days.

He'd been playing outside with the other kids for a while when he came into the house and asked her, 'Grandma, what's that called when two people sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?'

She was a little taken aback, but she decided to tell him the truth. 'It's called sexual intercourse, darling.'

Little Tony said, 'Oh, OK,' and went back outside to play with the other kids.

A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily, 'Grandma, it isn't called sexual intercourse. It's called Bunk Beds. And Jimmy's mum wants to talk to you.'

GUFF Is done and dusted

Well the results are in and Sue Ann and Trevor have won GUFF and will make the lucky voyage across the seas to Eastercon. I'd like to congratulate them and wish them all the very best. They will be awesome fandom representatives.

I'd also like to thank my nominators, the people who cast votes for me and also those who spoke out and said such lovely things about me. It's an honour to be amongst such awesome people and I appreciate all the love and support that you give me each and every day.

I'm so glad that I finally found a place in the world, in this community that I love so much and that I draw such energy and inspiration from. It's like finally coming home to your family.

And as such, can I say ... that I was very conflicted about GUFF because winning would mean I missed Swancon. And so for me, there was never a lose in this outcome. Win was to go and have fun and meet new people and lose was to stay at home and have fun and hang with people. And launch my first book with Tehani amongst our home crowd.

It's all good.

And it brings the possibility of World Fantasy Con back onto the table.

Oh, and girliecon at Swancon! Big pink drinks in celebration this year!!! (just need to find a room!)

The Channel 7 Sports just had breaking news which they delivered at the beginning of the segment - Cousins is not going to be picked up by St Kilda.

Then they deliver the rest of the sports news and as Bazza finishes up he apologises for not having time for some other tidbit because of "the breaking news, and I repeat ..."

Heh - you'd think they just reported that war was breaking out and not like, a club deciding after 5 months of investigating a drug addict that ... hiring him might not be the best idea after all.

Aside from the news about GUFF, I also discovered there will be a reassesment of my rent here at home and I had a really crap cup of coffee (this is very important to me!) The very lovely punkrocker1991 offered a lift in and out of work tomorrow which is extra specially nice since I have an early start tomorrow which I would have struggled to get to. AND we are going to stop for Crazy Man coffee on the way in.

And I had my fortnightly massage at work today. She asked if she could go deeper, which was fine by me, and then informed me that my body was telling her to do so *shrug*. And then she told me that I was much more relaxed than the first time and thought that was because I was more comfortable. But I think it's because I have less stress - and we talked about that, and about how you can mediate that with your attitude. It turns out that she's a yoga instructor, which is cool. I'm really getting into that headspace and thought process. And then she found the tension in the back of my shoulder blades and I think she may have used her elbows and yes it hurt but geez it's awesome now! She declared war on my knots and it was totally fantastic! A better massage than the ones you get at day spas. I'm contemplating having her come to my place for a full hour instead of the twice-yearly day spa jaunt. I am always so disappointed with the lack of determination in the day spa massages. 'Cept I already kinda know what I want for my bday day spa excursion ...

hmmmm ... I had something else to say but I can't remember.

Am losing interest in cooking at the moment. Everything I make is a pasta/gnocci with tomato sauce and cheese or some variation.

Tonight I decided to mix it up slightly with a version of Shakshuka - broad beans in chopped tomatoes, pepper, salt and dill, heat and then add two eggs till ... cooked.
Topped a bread roll with this.

It's ... interesting. At least.

Is my number.

Yep, 5 days left of Last Short Story 2008 and yet again I left all the good stuff to the end.

I am officially banned from craft till I finish. Or Dec 1. Whichever comes first.
