Still puzzled

I went to the dentist today and had one very painful filling and one less painful filling. The first one was so bad that even though he'd given me an injection, I could feel every drilling into it. It hurt so much that I actually said something just in case it was one of those times when afterwards he would have said, "you should have said something, I'd have given you more ..." But, instead he said, "Yes, it's because it's really sensitive." Yeah. Thanks for the newsflash.

Anyway, I'm lying there with the shooting pain and the tear inducing whining of the drill and so on and then after he finished drilling, I remember pain, more pain, him dabbing at my tooth, pain and then moving onto the second filling. And at the time I thought, "huh, maybe he's coming back to it?" And then he does the second filling and it's all, "rinse and you're done." So I stagger out of the seat and slur to ask him if he was just not doing that first filling. And he says, "of course I filled it, otherwise you'd have a great gaping hole in your tooth right now."

I have no recollection whatsoever of the first filling. It's surely impossible that I fell asleep in that much pain? I must have blanked out.

Too. Weird.
